This weekend’s Serie A action includes a huge clash in the capital and these Roma vs. Milanpredictions look at their respective starts to the season. Jose Mourinho’s side have struggled in the new campaign and this will be a major test for the Giallorossi.
1 – A draw – 11/5
2 – Roma under 2.5 total goals – 1/10
3 – Total goals scored under 2.5 – 4/6
4 – Both teams to score – 22/23
5 – A 1-1 draw – 11/2
Roma’s start to the campaign will be causing some concern for Mourinho, as his side have picked up just one point from their opening two league matches.
While it is in no way a crisis at this point, Mourinho will need to use his experience to get Roma back on track, starting this weekend at home to Stefano Pioli’s Milan.
Milan’s form has been much stronger in recent weeks with solid wins over Bologna and Torino to kickstart the new season.
But the sense that Mourinho will slowly look to grit his way out of the situation remains, and the two league meetings between the sides ended as draws last season.
As Roma look to get a foothold in Serie A they might find goals hard to come by. They have managed just three in two games so far in 2023-24. Milan have looked impressive in front of goal, but this is their toughest test so far this season and Pioli may be forced to tweak his approach in Rome.
A draw in this game may not have a significant impact on either team moving into September but it would provide an important step for Roma going into the international break.
If Mourinho were to go into the international window on the back of a loss, the pressure could increase. A draw, or even a win, would give him some breathing space at the Stadio Olimpico.
A draw in the capital would end Milan’s 100% league record so far this season, but it would not be a disaster for Pioli as he plans for the start of the Champions League group stages next month.
