Roma will make an attempt to sign Borussia Dortmund centre-back Neven Subotic if Philippe Mexes decides to join Milan, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

Reports in Italy suggest Mexes has agreed in principle to sign a four-year deal with Milan worth €4.5m a season once his contract expires at Roma in June.

Roma hope to persuade the 28-year-old France international to stay at the Stadio Olimpico, but if they can't a replacement will naturally be sought.
