Roma’s new sporting director Ricky Massara reportedly wants to make the Giallorossi more Italian, starting with a deal for Riccardo Saponara.

According to Calciomercato.it, Massara’s vision is “inevitable”, given Roma’s high number of young Italians out on loan and the likelihood that he will not limit himself to those already at the club.

Despite his poor start to the season, which has yielded no goals or assists, Saponara is said to be a target for the Lupi in January.

Torino have also been credited with an interest in the former Milan man, but Roma could exploit their “excellent relationship” with Empoli and loan them Gerson in exchange.
