Sino-Europe Sports has hit back at Paolo Maldini’s claim that its project for Milan is not a “winning” one, saying “he will soon realise how much” he was wrong.

Maldini explained in a lengthy interview on Tuesday that he did not believe in Sino-Europe’s plans for Milan, but the Chinese consortium – while “sorry” for the legendary defender’s decision – insists it is fully committed to restoring the Rossoneri’s fortunes.

“As for the rumours concerning the future of AC Milan, SES’ board of directors wish to clarify that the issue is not currently on the agenda,” read a statement.

“The priority for SES is now closing the purchase of AC Milan. We regret Paolo Maldini’s decision regarding our proposal because we firmly believe that he will soon realise how much of a winning project ours is for AC Milan.”
