Roma target Maxime Lopez has hinted he may be ready to leave Sassuolo at the end of the campaign.

The 24-year-old joined Sassuolo from Marseille in 2020 and as well as Roma, his performances have reportedly caught the attention of other Serie A giants such as Lazio and Fiorentina.

And speaking to La Provence, Lopez said: “Honestly, I am asking myself if the moment to make a change has arrived.

“I feel good at Sassuolo. I speak Italian and that helps on a day-to-day basis. I feel like I did at Marseille.”

Lopez also said he is aware of interest from other clubs and even suggested Sassuolo would benefit from is departure.

He added: “I’m not sure if this will be the moment, let’s see. Many clubs have shown an interest in me and Sassuolo would benefit financially.

“Let’s see what come even if right now there is nothing concrete. And when there is somethin concrete, I will give myself some time to think about it.”

Lopez made his professional debut at Marseille in August 2016 and soon made club history when, in November that year, he had 129 touches in a single match which was the most ever by a player.

He appeared in the 2018 Europa League final defeat to Atletico Madrid but saw his playing time soon decrease and was loaned out to Sassuolo at the start of the 2020-21 season and permanent move was triggered when he made 20 appearances.

In total, he has played 64 times for Sassuolo, scoring four goals including a 95th-minute winner in a 2-1 victory at Juventus last season. Lopez also has 13 France under-21 caps.
