Roma have reportedly increased their offer to Manchester United for Eric Bailly, a loan with option to buy for €8m.

The centre-back was the first player that Jose Mourinho signed at Old Trafford and has since fallen down the pecking order under the various managers who followed the Special One.

Bailly would reform the defensive partnership he had with Chris Smalling, reuniting at the Stadio Olimpico.

According to Calciomercato.com, the negotiations are continuing and the latest offer that Roma feel is enough to secure a deal will be a loan with option to buy for €8m.

Naturally, Manchester United want to include an obligation to buy, similar to the deal Roma did with PSG for Georginio Wijnaldum, tied to Champions League qualification.

Other options for the Giallorossi defence are Dan-Axel Zagadou, who has very high wage demands, and Marcos Senesi of Feyenoord, who is on the verge of signing for Bournemouth instead.
