Roma pair Tammy Abraham and Nicolo Zaniolo’s disciplinary record this season is incredibly poor, being worse than eight Serie A defenders combined.

The latter has become a hot topic in recent days following his sending off in the dying minutes of Roma’s frustrating goalless draw against Genoa on Saturday. He was shown the red card for dissent after arguing over his disallowed last minute winner, chalked off due to a foul in the build-up.

Abraham and Zaniolo have picked up 15 yellow cards and two red cards between them in the league this campaign, an incredibly poor disciplinary record for two forward players.

In comparison, 14 yellow cards have been picked up in the league this season by the following eight Serie A defenders combined: Milan Skriniar (2), Stefan de Vrij (2), Francesco Acerbi (1), Fikayo Tomori (2), Simon Kjaer (2), Giorgio Chiellini (2), Leonardo Bonucci (1) and Kalidou Koulibaly (2). These defenders have also only picked up two red cards in total.

Whilst this comparison is a little disingenuous (considering the injuries sustained by Kjaer and Chiellini, for example), it does highlight an apparent disciplinary issue for the Roma pair.

  1. Put Nicolo and Tammy in Juve or Inter and they would gather only 4 yellows between them. Fact.If Bonucci and Chiellini played for Roma, they would get carded in every game. Another fact.Zaniolo would also get awarded countless PKs playing for any of the privileged “Super League” trio, but I should stop pointing out the obvious…
