Roma came back from a goal down to hold OGC Nice 1-1 in a pre-season friendly, which saw Paulo Dybala remain on the touchline.

The new signing is now expected to have his debut against Tottenham on July 30, having just arrived as a free agent.

Still in Portugal as part of the pre-season training camp, Jose Mourinho’s men initially left Tammy Abraham and Lorenzo Pellegrini on the bench.

Matias Vina was again disappointing as a left-wing-back, making an error that allowed Billal Brahimi to open the scoring, going clear one-on-one with Mile Svilar.

The equaliser was an own goal from a familiar face, former Juventus flop Mario Lemina deflecting the Rick Karsdorp strike into his net.

Leonardo Spinazzola was a bright spark of the match, proving he is getting back to form after almost a year out due to a ruptured Achilles tendon.

Otherwise, the team performance improved after the break with the introduction of Abraham and Pellegrini, while Stephan El Shaarawy also went close and Gianluca Mancini’s header forced a tough save.

  1. Poor performance, both milan and roma sided played – all poor performances – 2 draws 1 loss.

Farmerss league on par with serie a – embarrasing

  2. Mohammed, what do you know about calcio lol? This is pre season and all managers are trying different formations and playing a lot of bench players. No one takes these games too serious.
Go play ping pong, don’t worry about football.

  3. Mario Lemina was not a Juve flop. In squads that had Pjanic, Pogba, Khedira and Marchisio ahead of him; he did well when called upon

  4. Remark•

Vina didn’t play wingback, he played to the left in a three men defence. Spinazzola played wingback to the left.

  5. @Capol – dont be a sissy – u drew againt crappy nice – your making pathetic excuses like differnet formations and bench players – thse players mentioned were all first team players including the generally bench players who always come on.

Very very poor – typical roma – no substance

  6. @muhammed pls calm bro, is like a training match, afterall both Milan and inter lost their match. Well mSamaybe u put 💰 on them 😀😀

  7. I have found that when pre seasons are poor then its a sign the rest of the season is also. When Juventus would lose 4-0 to Man United in a preseason you know they can’t compete with the rest of the leagues it’s a sign that they can’t compete or at least be top of Europe. But Lazio won 21-0 that is a good sign, some teams look good preseason even Monza. Maybe Inter, Roma and Milan may struggle this year and others won’t. It might not be that way all season things can change but not everyone is convinced.

  8. No, you’re just a troll, Mohammed. Nobody cares about friendly – as long as there is no injury, it’s all good.

Like seriously, who brags about friendly results apart from 10yo and Man U fans

  9. Jose is just testing players in different positions for different situations….This team should be winning the title this year. Be calm .

  10. mohammed

A preseason tour is to shake up the squad, try new formations, look for weaknesses and strong sides. Another reason is to get some audience from a different continent. If following your logic, than Tottenham Hotspur are the favourite to win the CL since they just won some NoName Cup final.

  11. Muhammad comments are a bit extreme however in my opinion roma are not playing well and this is not a good sign.
