Roma issued a club statement reiterating their ‘zero tolerance of racism in any form’ after receiving a suspended sentence for abusive chants towards Milan’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Franck Kessie.

The incidents occurred during the 2-1 Rossoneri victory at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday evening.

Ibrahimovic was targeted with insults calling him a ‘gypsy,’ while as he stepped up to take a penalty, Kessie was targeted by racist ‘monkey’ noises.

The Disciplinary Commission has imposed a partial stadium ban on the Curva Sud, but even that is suspended, so will only become active if there is another incident within the next year.

Ibra and Kessie racially abused: Roma must close Curva Sud if it happens again

“There is zero tolerance of racism in any form at AS Roma,” read a statement.

“For many years the club has been deeply committed to tackling racism and all forms of discrimination. As an organisation we continue to do everything possible to advance positive change.

“As a demonstration of our ongoing commitment to battling the issue, AS Roma players regularly visit local schools to deliver a message designed to promote equality, respect and unity, both on and off the pitch.

“The club is currently not in possession of all the information and evidence related to the specific episodes cited by the sporting authorities, but is already in contact with the authorities and relevant governing bodies in order to ascertain exactly what occurred.”

  1. Let’s call out BLM for promoting a reverse racist narrative.

Let’s discuss racism honestly which, by definition, must include a discussion on reverse racism

  2. Vittorio why do you always bring this up in every post here about racism? I actually agree with you, but this is Italy and football specifically. In this context, are black fans being racist to white footballers? No. So bringing up “reverse racism”, which is really just racism, has no meaning in this context. There isn’t kneeling or anything going on in this league, so no need really to mention BLM etc. Racism by any race against any race is wrong, it doesn’t need to be specifically about whites vs blacks.

  3. How one could know if that person/group who did racism was roma fans? it could be anyone who went to the stadium!!! remember, Roma is on the same city with their rival who…. you know…

  4. Really ? Atalanta were able to figure out who threw a coin at Pepe and banned them ?

“The club is currently not in possession of all the information and evidence related to the specific episodes cited by the sporting authorities, but is already in contact with the authorities and relevant governing bodies in order to ascertain exactly what occurred.”

What exactly does this mean ?

  5. @DB Milan

    Keep calling me names, brother.

It continues to prove my point about how you and those of your ilk prefer censorship rather than discussion.

The only trolling done here is your comment without contributing much by way of substance.
