Spezia are reportedly only a step away from picking up Roma forward Eldor Shomurodov on a six-month loan deal.

The 27-year-old Uzbeki forward joined the Giallorossi from Genoa in August 2021 in a deal worth around €18m. He’s failed to hit expectations in the Italian capital, only scoring six goals across 48 appearances, and has looked set to depart for some time.

This season,  Shomurodov has only made one start in Serie A, playing 115 minutes of action across six games.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Spezia have beaten out Cremonese in the race for Shomurodov and are now only a step away from picking up the Roma forward on loan.

The Ligurian outfit will pay around €1.5m for a temporary six-month loan move, which doesn’t include an option to buy.

Spezia are now working on agreeing personal terms with the Uzbeki forward, who previously scored eight goals in 32 games for Genoa.
