After reaching an agreement to sign Algerian midfielder Houssem Auoar upon the expiry of his contract with Lyon in the summer, it is expected that Roma will dip into the free agent market again in the upcoming transfer window.

With Uefa restrictions on financial fair play involved, Zeki Celik was the only player the Giallorossi spent a fee on last summer, and it could be a similar situation again this year, with free transfers lined up to replace players who could be moved on to raise capital gains.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Roma are working on a deal to secure the services of Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan N’Dicka, whose contract in Germany is set to expire in June.

The report claims that Tiago Pinto has already presented an enticing offer to the 23-year-old and his representatives, but N’Dicka is showing no signs of urgency in terms of signing, particularly with interest from Barcelona in the mix.

Another option from the Bundesliga is Borussia Moenchengladbach full-back Ramy Bensebaini, who could replace Leonardo Spinazzola in the event he is moved on to raise funds.

Roma could also be in the market for a new centre-forward, particularly if Tammy Abraham makes a move in the summer and with Andrea Belotti nearing the end of his current deal.

However, one name that has been suggested, Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino, is expected to command too high a wage packet for the Giallorossi to consider a serious option.
