Roma are on the verge of signing Barcelona winger Carles Perez on loan with obligation to buy for €13m, according to Sky Sport Italia.

The Giallorossi have been on the lookout for an attacking player since Nicolò Zaniolo’s season-ending injury against Juventus two weeks ago.

Matteo Politano had taken a medical with the club, only for the deal to fall apart due to issues with Leonardo Spinazzola’s part of the exchange.

Other alternatives where looked at, including Milan’s Suso and Real Sociedad’s Adnan Januzaj.

However, it seems they’ve turned their attention to Perez, with Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio saying an agreement is close between the clubs.

Roma will take the 21-year-old on loan for the rest of the summer, with an obligation to buy set at €13m.

It remains to be seen if Barcelona have a buy-back option.

This is significantly cheaper than the figure suggested last night by Calciomercato.com of loan with €20m option to buy.

Perez scored against Inter in the final game of this season’s Champions League group stage, which contributed to knocking the Nerazzurri out.
