There are concerns for Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini after he limped off during a friendly test against Portuguese side Casa Pia.
The captain had been in the starting XI during their tour of Portugal and lasted only 33 minutes before leaving the field after a consultation with the medical staff.
According to initial reports, it is not a muscular issue, but rather a knock to the tibia.
However, Pellegrini appeared to catch his studs in the turf and trip up just before the injury, so there are concerns over a potential sprain.
He was replaced by Nemanja Matic in the Giallorossi midfield.
Their Portuguese trip has so far not been reassuring, as they were beaten 3-0 by Cadiz with Matias Vina sent off before half-time and will play RKC Waalwijk on Thursday.
Roma will return to Serie A action by hosting Bologna at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday January 4, kicking off at 15.30 GMT.
Pellegrini hurt?
No way. Say it isn’t so.
Why you’re so fragile, Pelle!!!
