Roma’s Walter Sabatini has revealed that the club are ‘very close’ to making their first purchase for the summer 2012 transfer market.

The Giallorossi, who currently sit in sixth position, four points adrift of the Europa League qualification places and seven away from the final Champions League berth, are already planning for next season, according to their sporting director.

“We know the areas that need work – the team must have more personality,” admitted Sabatini on Radio les, in reflection to the weekend’s defeat to Milan.

“We will try for players with this quality. We know what to do and are already very active, I’m sure we will do well.

“We are very close to taking a player, one of the highest quality. I will not say anything further as it would play against the club and the deal itself.”

Sabatini also confirmed that the club ‘have not decided what to do’ in relation to making permanent or not Simon Kjaer’s loan deal, and that Bojan Krkic will remain with the club for at least another season, before any decision needs to be made about his future.
