Roma chiefs Ryan Friedkin and Tiago Pinto will be at Stamford Bridge tonight to discuss the Romelu Lukaku loan with Chelsea, who will host Luton in the Premier League.

Thousands of Giallorossi supporters kept track of the private jet owned by Friedkin as it made the journey from Rome to Farnborough airport, landing this evening.

Chelsea are in advanced negotiations to sign Lukaku on loan for circa €10m, but Sportitalia and Calciomercato.com both claim that the Premier League side are prepared to cover part of his salary.

That would make for significant savings, as Roma are in a tricky financial situation with FFP restrictions.

These are also not conditions that Chelsea were ready to give Inter or Juventus.

Friedkin and director of sport Tiago Pinto are expected to be at Stamford Bridge this evening when the game with Luton Town kicks off at 20.00 UK time.

The club offices are in the stadium complex too, so they might not necessarily be in the stands so much as discussing things behind the scenes.

Journalists will keep an eye out for them in the VIP boxes of the stadium, where a game can be watched at the same time as talks are held.

  1. Now this could be an interesting move. Lukaku with Mourinho playing with Abraham (when he comes back) and Dybala, this may free up Pellegrini a bit. Though should it fall through, the guy has to get in his head he’s better off in some other league.
