Alessandro Florenzi looks ahead to Roma’s Champions League clash with Manchester City on Wednesday, and believes his side can win.

The Giallorossi will qualify for the Last 16 if they beat City at Olimpico, and would also progress with a 0-0 draw provided CSKA Moscow don’t beat Bayern Munich. A win for the Citizens would see Roma crash out.

In an interview with Roma Radio, Florenzi stated his belief that the Lupi could cause problems for the English champions.

“We have a good chance of winning, because we’re a good team capable of putting City in difficulty.

“We know how to create problems for City.

“I expect a tough game, there are no givens. [Sergio] Aguero and [Yaya] Toure will be missing [for Manchester City], but we’re only thinking about Roma.

“We expect the same atmosphere as against Bayern, where the fans didn’t abandon us for even one minute.”

The capital club had an opportunity to close the gap to Juventus at the top of the League to just one point on Saturday, after the Bianconeri drew with Fiorentina.

However, Roma were unable to capitalise, fighting back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Sassuolo. Despite the missed opportunity, Florenzi insists the team was not distracted by the Manchester City game.

“We all wanted to win, but when you start like we did you’re facing an uphill battle.

“We didn’t approach the match in the right way, then we were down to 10 men [after Daniele De Rossi’s red card] and we showed our character to get back into it.

“That’s how it goes at Roma. If you win you’re World Champion, if you lose you’re nothing. I can assure you we were only thinking about beating Sassuolo, but we didn’t succeed.

“Can we win the title? We have a good chance.”
