Domenico Di Carlo or Delio Rossi could take over the Cesena hot seat if reports indicating Davide Ballardini has rejected the job are correct.

Ballardini was widely expected to take over at Dino Manuzzi after Pierpaolo Bisoli was relieved of his duties this morning. However, since then reports have emerged that the former Bologna Coach has rejected the job.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, that rejection has sparked a scramble to appoint Bisoli’s successor, with Di Carlo and Rossi the frontrunners.

Former Chievo Coach Di Carlo is unemployed following an 88-day spell at Livorno last term.

Rossi is also available, having been dismissed by Sampdoria last season with the club in the relegation zone.

However, Gianluca Di Marzio’s website believes the 54-year-old could prove a problematic target for the Cavallucci Marini, as the Coach would have to negotiate the termination of his Sampdoria contract for which he is still being paid.

The site states that alongside Di Carlo and Rossi, Walter Zenga is also being considered for the role.

The former Italian international was close to getting the Inter job before Roberto Mancini eventually took over at San Siro.
