Roma director general Franco Baldini has asked the fans for forgiveness after the club’s 1-0 loss to Siena on Monday.

The Giallorossi were in fine form going into the tie, but it was the Tuscan minnows who emerged with the three points.

“There is great regret because the side did not express itself to its usual standards,” noted the former Real Madrid and England official to Sky Sport Italia.

“I apologise to the fans who, despite the freezing cold, came here to support the boys.”

Roma demolished Inter 4-0 in Week 22 and Baldini was expecting more of Luis Enrique’s players last night.

“There was little conviction out there and I’m really bitter about the performance,” Baldini continued.

“We gave away too many chances to Siena in the first half.

“They were more hungry than we were and they took home the result. Siena deserved to win the game.”
