“Destro is an Italian footballing asset,” Mezzaroma told Sky Sport Italia. “This experience here with us is helping him to grow.

“We’ll assess his future in the next few months, but he’s happy at Siena and he should be left in peace so that he can mature.”

The forward, who will turn 21 in March, is an Azzurrini regular under boss Ciro Ferrara.

In 15 Serie A games this season, he has scored five goals.
