Roma and Real Betis are reportedly doing battle on the transfer market for Leicester City forward Ayoze Perez.

The 29-year-old came up through the Tenerife youth academy and moved to England for Newcastle United in 2014, then switched to Leicester in 2019 for €33.4m.

His contract with the Foxes only runs to the end of this season, so he is available for a cut-price fee and will be a free agent in the summer.

According to Spanish newspaper Diario AS, Roma are the favourites for Perez, closely followed by Real Betis.

There is also known to be interest from French teams, but it seems he is eager for a return to Spain and the chance to work with Mauricio Pellegrino at Betis, especially as they nearly worked together at West Ham United too.

Mourinho will try to convince Perez to accept the move to Roma, presumably to replace Eldor Shomurodov, who is in talks for a transfer to Torino.
