Italy international Gianluigi Donnarumma was named as the first-choice Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper this season, but a howler is prompting fans to call for the return of Keylor Navas.

The former Milan shot-stopper had a troubled debut season in France, constantly battling with Navas for a start in every match throughout the campaign.

This time around, coach Christophe Galtier stated that Donnarumma was the first pick, sending veteran Navas to the bench.

Fans are in revolt after a shock 3-1 defeat to Lens, ending a lengthy unbeaten run in Ligue 1 for PSG, and Donnarumma has been blamed for the opening goal with supporters online pointing to his ‘stupid’ error.

He was caught off his line and only flapped at a cross, unable to prevent it falling to Przemyslaw Frankowski.

Navas has been in Paris since 2019 and just turned 36 last month, but has not had a single competitive game at club level so far this season.

5 thought on “PSG fans turn on Italy’s Donnarumma after error”
  1. The goal wasn’t that bad to concede.

PSG were flat. Plus no Ney and Messi still. Big deal. So PSG win the League by 12 Points and not 15.

  2. nothing unusual for dollarumma to drop a clanger ….. did it more than once at ac milan ……

  3. Big deal ,he’s not a machine , he is still the best goalie out there if you ask me. Stop demanding perfection from human beings. You’ll only be disappointed.
