Ricardo Rodriguez had offers from “a lot of Italian teams” but Milan’s leadership convinced him, his agent says.
The full-back joined the Rossoneri from Wolfsburg this summer, despite links to both Inter and Napoli, and his representative has explained how the deal came about.
“Yes, I can confirm a lot of Italian teams wanted him,” Gianluca Di Domenico told calciomercato.com.
“[Marco] Fassone and [Massimiliano] Mirabelli [the CEO and sporting director] were very good, this summer they showed they have great skills.

“[Marco] Fassone and [Massimiliano] Mirabelli [the CEO and sporting director] were very good, this summer they showed they have great skills.
“They told us from the first minute that they wanted to take him, they have a way of carrying out talks which surprised us.
“Mirabelli is a football connoisseur, he was able to describe Ricardo from A to Z, analysing his strengths and pointing out areas where he needs to improve.
“Fassone is an effective and convincing communicator, and in fact I’d go further: I’m convinced he could take a player even without all the money for the budget.
“I’m convinced that Ricardo is already among the top defenders in Europe, and Milan is the right team to reach an even higher level.
“As for the ambitions of the Rossoneri, it’s never easy to become a group in a squad which has 11 new players.
“In Italy there are teams like Roma, Juventus and Napoli who are also competing in Europe.
“The signals are already visible though, they [Milan] are very hungry. They always try to be aggressive, they keep possession of the ball and they never stop attacking.
“I think with this Milan, the Italian league is getting back to being the most beautiful of all.”
