Tottenham Hotspur director Fabio Paratici has entered talks with Cagliari over Nahitan Nandez, who had been pushing for a move to Inter.

Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports Spurs have joined the race for the Uruguay international, as former Juventus sporting director Paratici wants to give Nuno Espirito Santo a new midfielder.

Nandez: ‘Cagliari gave me their word’

Nandez summer started with a delayed return from his international duties, as he was pushing for a move to Italian champions Inter in recent months.

But Cagliari have been asking for the full €36m in the player’s release clause, with Inter hoping to get a discount.

He didn’t show up for the Rossoblu retreat and the player explained his reasons in a letter, asking the club to respect their promises.

The broadcaster claims the Tottenham Hotspur, who have contacted the Sardinians, represent a new possibility for the 25-year-old, who joined Cagliari from Boca Juniors in August 2019.

Nandez, capped 41 times by Uruguay, has impressed in his 72 competitive games with Cagliari, contributing four goals and seven assists in the process.
