Inter are reportedly in pole position to sign Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen, but will allegedly face competition from Napoli and Roma.

The Belgium international has emerged as a transfer target among the top clubs in Italy as his current deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is set to expire in June.

La Gazzetta dello Sport has claimed that Inter are ready to part ways with Diego Godin after only one season to accommodate for the 32-year-old former Ajax defender.

Inter are reportedly in pole position to sign Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen, but will allegedly face competition from Napoli and Roma.

The Belgium international has emerged as a transfer target among the top clubs in Italy as his current deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is set to expire in June.

La Gazzetta dello Sport has claimed that Inter are ready to part ways with Diego Godin after only one season to accommodate for the 32-year-old former Ajax defender.

But the report claims that Napoli and Roma are both interested in the former Dutch champion but the Nerazzurri coach Antonio Conte shall have made his mind up and is ready to convince the Spurs star to follow his former teammate Christian Eriksen to the Giuseppe Meazza.

Vertonghen has played 19 games in the Premier League this season and was an important member of the squad that made it to the Champions League Final last season – eventually losing to Liverpool.

So far, he has been capped 118 times by Belgium, contributing nine goals in the process and helped the side to a third place in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
