Inter midfielder Borja Valero felt Serie A reacted ‘too late’ and disappointed by the ‘necessity to infect a player to stop everything’.

During the forced break, Valero has been staying at home with his family in Milan and revealed why he hopes that the Nerazzurri will be able to finish what they started this term.

“I’m fine, luckily I have my whole family at home with me,” he told AS. “It would have been more complicated if I was alone.

During the forced break, Valero has been staying at home with his family in Milan and revealed why he hopes that the Nerazzurri will be able to finish what they started this term.

“I’m fine, luckily I have my whole family at home with me,” he told AS. “It would have been more complicated if I was alone.

“We are all following a training programme Inter sent us. I still hope the season can be completed. This would in fact mean that the most important problems, such as health, are being resolved.”

But the Spanish midfielder was not entirely happy about how Serie A handled the coronavirus emergency and pointed out that the ‘championship had to be stopped earlier’.

“The decision came too late. It was necessary to infect a player to stop everything,” he added. “The championship should have been stopped earlier.”

Inter were third when Serie A was suspended – nine points behind Juventus but with one game in hand – and were fighting for a place in the Final of the Coppa Italia and scheduled to face Getafe in the last 16 of the Europa League.
