There is more than one reason why Inter are on the verge of clinching a deal for Crotone goalkeeper Alex Cordaz.

Multiple sources including Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia maintain Inter will sign 38-year-old Cordaz as their third choice goalkeeper.

He has been at Crotone since 2015 and helped them to promotion, going back down to Serie B a season later.

The one-year contract with Inter is believed to be worth €150,000.

More importantly, Cordaz started out in the Inter youth academy and even made one single appearance for the club in the Coppa Italia against Juventus in February 2004.

This is valuable because otherwise Inter would struggle to fill their quota of players currently in the squad who were products of the youth academy.

Under Serie A rules, every club needs to have a certain number of players who came from their youth system.
