Former Serie A defender Daniele Adani notes Milan lost many duels against Fiorentina on Saturday, so they’ll have to improve against an ‘aggressive’ Tottenham in Champions League on Wednesday.

The Rossoneri ended their four-game winning streak at the weekend against Fiorentina, suffering a 2-1 loss at the Stadio Franchi.

On Wednesday, March 8, they visit Tottenham in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 after a 1-0 win at San Siro in February.

“The defeat in Florence was a huge blow. The bad thing for Milan is that they were inferior in duels against Fiorentina,” Adani told 90° Minuto.

“On Wednesday, Tottenham will be aggressive and that’s where Milan must improve to be up to the task.”

Stefano Pioli hopes to see Brahim Diaz back in action in North London.

The Spaniard was unavailable in Florence, so Charles De Ketelaere started as an attacking midfielder but once again failed to impress.

However, Adani sees improvements for the Belgian starlet, Milan’s most expensive signing last summer.

“He is a serious guy and he’s really appreciated by his teammates who continue to encourage him. If his attitude were bad, they wouldn’t do it,” said Adani.

“It’s right to wait for him. He will be the first one to analyse what’s not working. Everyone’s telling me that he is a shy and introverted guy.”

Milan are in the race for a Champions League placement but are currently out of the top four on goal difference with 47 points, as many as José Mourinho’s Roma. Lazio sit third with 48 while Inter are second with 50.
