Christian Pulisic reveals why he is in the form of his life at Milan after scoring the winner against Empoli and gives his side of the Lazio ‘unsporting behaviour’ controversy.

The former Chelsea man sealed the 1-0 victory at San Siro this afternoon thanks to an effort that took a decisive deflection off Sebastiano Luperto.

“It’s a good feeling, it was a bit lucky, but we take it and keep moving,” Pulisic told DAZN.

The USMNT star already has 10 Serie A goals this season, the best start to a top five league campaign in his career. How has he been so transformed by the move to Milan?

“I feel it’s some of the best form in my career, for sure. I’ve been given a lot of confidence and trust here from the staff, my teammates, the city and the fans, so I feel really, really good here.”

Pulisic was in the headlines last week over the controversial 1-0 win over Lazio, which saw Luca Pellegrini sent off for bringing him down, as they were trying to put the ball out of play for a Taty Castellanos injury.

The American was lambasted for ‘unsporting behaviour’ and getting Pellegrini sent off.

“For me, this was not a question of being a bad sport. I saw nothing behind me, I play to the whistle and I was brought down. I had no intention of doing anything like that, the whole situation got out of control,” explained Pulisic.

“People who know me will know that, people outside can say whatever they want, but I didn’t mean anything against Lazio.”

Milan were in action on Thursday in the first leg of the Europa League Round of 16 against Slavia Praha, emerging with a 4-2 win against a side that was down to 10 men for an hour.

“In the first match we had a lot of quality going forward, but we need to strengthen up at the back. We can defend better on set pieces and be more solid as a team.

“I think we have the qualities, we must continue to push and we can go far.”
