Politano was visibly upset, almost in tears, when he flew back to Milan after those days in the Capital and seems to have his heart set on Roma.

According to multiple reports, he could get his dream move after all, because Inter and Roma are trying to negotiate a transfer separate from the original swap deal with Spinazzola.

The Nerazzurri want a loan with obligation to buy, whereas the Giallorossi would prefer an option.

The Corriere dello Sport newspaper has the likely scenario of a loan with option to buy for €20m, which becomes an obligation after 10 appearances for Roma.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claim Politano has turned down all other destinations, including Monaco and Sevilla.

Roma director of sport Gianluca Petrachi openly blamed Inter for the breakdown of the Spinazzola-Politano exchange, claiming “there was a short-circuit in communication” between Nerazzurri transfer chiefs Piero Ausilio and Beppe Marotta.
