Milan midfielder Tommaso Pobega hopes Theo Hernandez and Olivier Giroud ‘return home with the cup’ and explains what he needs to play as a left-back.

The Italian midfielder played on the left wing in defence in Milan’s two friendly games during the World Cup break, against Arsenal and Lumezzane.

“It was nice to return to playing. We needed this game to get playing time we are still not at our best, but we saw some signals, physically and tactically,” he told Milan Tv.

“The coach asked me a few days ago if I could play as a full-back and of course, I agreed. There are some dynamics and movements that I am not accustomed to, but I give my best to play in the best way in this position.”

His teammates Giroud and Theo will play in the World Cup semis against Morocco tonight.

“We followed Theo and Giroud at the World Cup and I wish them the best,” said the ex-Torino loanee.

“Today, they’ll play a great game and I am sure they’ll put in the same levels of performance as in the previous matches. Hopefully, they’ll come back home with the club, ready to start again.”

The Rossoneri are training in Dubai and will face Liverpool on Friday.

“It’s the first time I am in Dubai, we have it to visit the place because we’ve been very busy with games and training, we want to prepare for the next game [against Liverppo] at our best and end well.

“The preparation is going well, the group is getting back together and we need a split team for the restart of the season.”
