The former midfielder played for both clubs, and attended a Lega Calcio event today to promote the Coppa Italia final between the two.

Tomorrow sees Juve take on Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, as they look to overturn a 3-0 defeat from the first leg in Turin.

“Anything is possible in football,” Pirlo explained to MilanNews.

“Trying doesn’t cost anything, it’s difficult but they have to try. The Bernabeu isn’t scary, in these matches you can’t be scared, you have to just think about having fun.

“Before games like this you have so many beautiful thoughts, then the hope is that these dreams come true.

“The Scudetto? As long as there’s this Juventus then there’s not much hope for the others. Juve are the strongest, it’ll be hard for anyone to beat them.

Napoli will have to win [in Turin], Juventus will play their match. For Napoli it will be a decisive game, not for the Bianconeri.”

Pirlo played alongside Rino Gattuso for Milan and Italy for many years, and his friend is now the Coach of the Rossoneri.

“I didn’t expect it, but I’m happy for him. He’s proven himself to be a Coach, I’m happy he’s doing well for Milan.

“At the start everyone thought he could only bring grit, but Milan play well, they’re playing nice football and it’s good to see. We must congratulate him.

“Milan have recovered from a dark moment, now we’re seeing a little light. They have to give continuity to a project, that’s the way forward.”

Finally, Pirlo discussed the final itself.

“Hopefully it’ll be a beautiful match between two great teams.”
