“From tomorrow, it’ll be the start of two decisive months for our season in Serie A and the Coppa Italia,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Every game will be important and the result make a difference. We’re chasing the top six and have to hope some of the teams ahead of us drop points.

“It’ll be very important against Lazio, as they are in great physical and psychological shape, so we need the best possible Fiorentina in order to win.

“Lazio rediscovered their enthusiasm with the 3-0 derby win over Roma, which came just at the right time after their Europa League elimination. I’ve said it before, the Biancocelesti have everything it takes to be one of the best sides in Serie A.

“We need to defend and attack as a team unit, because it is Lazio’s passing game that is most effective and through balls are very dangerous.”

Fiorentina’s ambitions of a top six spot were hit by a 3-1 defeat to Atalanta, just days after the same teams drew 3-3 in the Coppa Italia semi-final.

“In 2019, we have scored 25 goals and conceded 16, so that shows we are an attack-minded side who always want to score more goals than the opposition. Having said that, it is important that we find more solidity in our defensive movements.

“Atalanta played better that we did, but we can’t get downhearted because we lost a game after three months.”

The Viola have some injury problems against Lazio, as Marko Pjaca’s season is over following a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

“We are all very close to Marko, who is really unlucky and I saw the lads were a little shaken by what happened. Pjaca is strong and I’m sure he’ll return stronger than ever again this time.

“Bryan Dabo skipped training for a couple of days as he was suffering from flu, while Alban Lafont is still not fully recovered from an ankle sprain in Bergamo.

“Edimilson Fernanes had a few problems too, so I’ll evaluate all three tomorrow morning.”
