“We go to Marassi feeling confident after our recent performances and it’ll be another head-to-head for European places,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“There are still so many teams crammed in to a few points, so at this stage of the season, every single result becomes more important.

“I think we can get a clearer idea of the situation after our game with Chievo, going into the break for international duty next week.”

Atalanta are in joint sixth place with Torino and Lazio, only two points ahead of Sampdoria.

“It’s an opportunity for us to end the negative tradition Atalanta have against Samp in recent years. We’ve put in good performances against them, but still emerged defeated.

“We want to build on the good work we did against Fiorentina and build some momentum, but Sampdoria always put up a fight.”

Atalanta have lost four of their last five Serie A meetings with Samp, while they managed only one point from the last five trips to Marassi.

“Pierluigi Gollini will be in goal tomorrow, but I want to make it clear that I don’t just change goalkeeper from one day to the next. I alternate them in case there are three games in a week, but tried to give both Pierluigi and Etrit Berisha fairly long spells between the sticks.

“The two goalkeepers are at a very similar level and I haven’t made any definitive choices.”
