Stefano Pioli admits being bothered by Gian Piero Gasperini’s post-match claim about Atalanta‘s ‘credit with Milan when it comes to penalties.’

Atalanta held Milan to a 1-1 draw at San Siro on Sunday night, but La Dea’s equaliser caused controversy as it came from a debatable Teun Koopmeiners penalty kick in the first half.

Milan coach Pioli said the Atalanta penalty was “soft” while Gasperini admitted: “I have never been in favour of this type of penalty, but they have become frequent.”

However, during a post-match interview with DAZN, the Atalanta coach added something that irritated Pioli: “We’ve got credit with Milan when it comes to penalties, so it turned our way this time.”

As reported by RarioRossonera, journalists at San Siro informed Pioli about Gasperini’s words during a post-match press conference and the Diavoli boss replied: “Certain things bother me so much”.

Sunday’s draw between Milan and Atalanta keeps the race for the top four wide open as Bologna have now overtaken La Dea in fourth. Gasperini’s men have a game in hand, but it’s an away fixture against table leaders Inter, which will be played this coming Wednesday.

Milan sit third with 53 points, four below second-placed Juventus.

  1. Atalanta are one of those teams that attempt doing something nice once in a lifetime and than pretend we should give them credit 5 years onwards . They are one of the few teams I dislike, and that’s hard to achieve.
