Italy kits will have a special patch to honour legend Gianluca Vialli against England on Thursday in the first international match since his death.

The Juventus and Chelsea legend died from pancreatic cancer on January 6, 2023. He had served as Italy’s delegation chief for over two years, playing a key role in the Azzurri’s Euro 2020 victory.

Italy CT Mancini, one of Vialli’s closest friends, said his former Sampdoria teammate is ‘immortal’ during a pre-match press conference on Wednesday.

The Azzurri will honour the former striker in the Euro 2024 qualifying match against England tonight with a special patch placed inside the collar.

It reads: ‘Luca, Azzurro forever.’

PSG star Gigio Donnarumma, who will start against the Three Lions tonight, paid tribute to Vialli on Instagram on Wednesday and the same did Napoli captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo during his press conference in Coverciano on Tuesday.
