Milan have set their sights on Club Atletico Platense defender Marco Pellegrino, claim reports in both Argentina and Italy.

The centre-back just turned 21 last month and is under contract until December 2024.

He has made 17 appearances in the Superliga so far this season, also contributing one goal.

According to TyC Sports and Milannews.it, the Rossoneri are still looking for a defender and he is one of the names they are considering for a formal offer.

Pellegrino has Italian citizenship due to his heritage and therefore would not take up a valuable non-EU spot in the Milan squad.

Sampdoria were also linked with a possible approach for Pellegrino.

It is reported that Platense President Sebastian Ordonez is personally taking charge of the negotiations with Milan and there is a €5m release clause in his contract.
