The 27-year-old also spoke about his good relationship with President Silvio Berlusconi during his time with the Rossoneri.

"Berlusconi has always been the same with me,” the Brazilian told Repubblica.it. “He is a gentleman and has always treated me so well, even when I went to him to ask if I could return to Brazil when in the beginning he did not want to let me go.

"But in the end we agreed and he also realised thanks to [Adriano] Galliani that the right thing to do was to let me go. I thank them both.

"My relationship with them has always been the best. Milan will be different without Berlusconi but the image of Milan will always be him.

"Milan are changing many things and the team is putting itself back together.

“They want to play only with Italians but I'm sure that Milan will come back to being at the same level as they always were, even though we all know the strength of Juventus in Italy at the moment.

"The Rossoneri have great players, I always look at their results, and next year they will play in Europe."
