Former Lazio midfielder Marco Parolo believes Milan coach Stefano Pioli ‘had already shown he’s a great coach’ with the Aquile.

The 55-year-old has helped Milan back to the Champions League after finishing second in Serie A 2020-21 and the Rossoneri have consistently impressed since he arrived in October 2019.

But Parolo feels Pioli already proved his worth during his two years with the Biancocelesti between 2014 and 2016.

Lazio finished third in Serie A in 2014-15 and played the Final in the Coppa Italia the same year, reaching the last 16 in the Europa League the following season.

“With us, he had already shown that he’s a great coach,” Parolo told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “Now, he’s among the best prepared and is helping Milan grow too.”

Parolo played 265 competitive games for the Biancocelesti, having arrived when Pioli was in charge in 2014 and left Lazio when his contract expired in July 2021.

  1. Still get the feeling, bad run of results and he will be gone for a higher profile coach.

Given time he could set the foundations for years to come
