Roma President James Pallotta says Coach Rudi Garcia will stay, but admits he ‘didn’t like’ his Press conference.

The French tactician spoke before the final game of the season and insisted that he couldn’t be expected to compete with Juventus, given the resources available to him, with rumours this had caused fury at boardroom level.

“We want to move forward with our Coach,” Pallotta assured Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Roma came second twice under him.

“I’m not going to deny that I didn’t like his Press conference. Some things don’t have to be aired in public. If there are disagreements, we’ll talk internally, otherwise it just creates confusion.

“I don’t think the gap to Juventus is unbridgeable. Juventus have the advantage that they launched their project first, they have a stadium they own and have experience.

“Juventus have such a strong foundation that they were able to manage very well with the change of Coach [Max Allegri replacing Antonio Conte].”

Garcia predicted after the first clash with the Bianconeri that his side would go on to lift the Scudetto, something which the President now admits may have been a mistake.

“Garcia was only seeking to give the team peace of mind. It was a way to boost the players’ self-esteem.

“That said, probably in this case it would have been better to talk about certain things in the dressing room, and not in public.

“I’m never satisfied, because first is always the best result. It’s clear that something went wrong, but nonetheless we’ve come second twice in a row, and we go into the Champions League without the stress of the play-off.”

Pallotta also revealed that the Coach will not be part of today’s meeting in London.

“We’ve talked with Garcia, he knows our projects and the club’s strategy. I’m convinced we can do better next season with the innovations we’re introducing.”
