Cagliari climbed out of the relegation zone with their 2-1 win away to Torino, as only Juventus have been in a better run of form in Serie A in 2022.

The Sardinians have spent practically the entire campaign in the drop zone and at the midway stage of the season were in penultimate place.

That was after just 10 points from 19 games, scoring 17 goals and conceding a massive 40.

However, things have certainly changed as Walter Mazzarri finally managed to mould the squad to his own vision after taking over from Rolando Maran on September 15 and overseeing big changes in the January transfer window.

The transformation is obvious by the statistics, as in the eight Serie A matches played in 2022, Cagliari have amassed 15 points.

They scored 11 goals, conceded just eight and have climbed out of the bottom three.

During this calendar year, only Juventus have done better than Cagliari with 16 points in eight games.

They have the same number of points as Milan and Napoli, although the Partenopei have a game in hand.

  1. The matches on that list are not in 2022. Sort your stuff. Maybe less Conte and EPL content and better Serie A content?

  2. totally agree Ravanelli – Mazzari replaced Simplici, who replaced di Francesco who replaced Zenga and then we get to Maran. Maybe less focus on the ‘big’ teams and more on the rest of serie A.
