Italian Football Federation prosecutors have asked for Napoli to be docked a point and two of their players to be banned as part of the betting probe.

It’s alleged that Gianello tried to fix a match against Sampdoria” data-scaytid=”6″>Sampdoria in May 2010, by asking Paolo Cannavaro and Gianluca Grava to participate but they refused.
However, Cannavaro and Grava insist they knew nothing of Gianello’s intentions and thus were not in a position to alert the authorities.
The custodian, currently with no club, had a 16-month ban plea bargain rejected earlier today. Instead the disciplinary commission are pushing for a three-year and three-month ban.
Given that Gianello was on Napoli’s books, the FIGC are also pushing for the Azzurri to be docked one point in the standings and fined €100,000 for being ‘objectively responsible’.
Captain Cannavaro and Grava could face nine month bans as they – much like Juventus boss Antonio Conte – are suspected of failing to report the match-fixing attempt.
The two Napoli defenders have insisted that they are innocent of any wrongdoing.
