The midfielder scored the opener against Lazio, and in the celebrations he threw water into Cataldi’s face, before collapsing on the floor when the substitute grabbed his collar.
Today the Lega Serie A has released its disciplinary findings, with the Dutchman banned for the matches against Milan and Juventus.

Today the Lega Serie A has released its disciplinary findings, with the Dutchman banned for the matches against Milan and Juventus.
It was found that spraying water at Cataldi was “provocative” but could not be considered “violent conduct or seriously unsportsmanlike conduct”.
However, the fact that Luca Banti sent-off Cataldi for grabbing Strootman was reviewed, with television images confirming “obvious simulation” from the Giallorossi man.
Strootman was booked during the incident, but Banti was cautioning him for over-celebrating, rather than the dive which got his opponent sent-off.
Since it “led directly to the sending-off of the opposition player”, the 26-year-old has been banned for two games. Roma will lodge an appeal.
Cataldi has been banned for one game for “pulling the shirt of the opposition player”, while Erick Pulgar of Bologna and Cagliari’s Davide Di Gennaro are also given a one-match ban for their respective red cards.
Cristian Ansaldi of Inter, Crotone pair Lorenzo Crisetig and Aleandro Rosi, Milan midfielder Juraj Kucka and Nenad Tomovic will also miss the next match having picked up a gifth booking of the season.
There was no word in the disciplinary report on Lazio’s Senad Lulic, who is awaiting punishment for his racist comments about Roma defender Antonio Rudiger.
