Roma have officially sold Jordan Veretout to Olympique Marseille in a deal believed to be worth €11m plus €4.5m in bonuses, as the Ligue 1 side announced him with an animated sci-fi video.

The 29-year-old was not part of coach Jose Mourinho’s plans and had also been linked with both Milan and Juventus in recent weeks.

He opted for a return to France, having been in Serie A since coming to Fiorentina from Aston Villa in 2017.

Roma had purchased Veretout from the Viola for €18.5m in 2019, initially on loan and then permanently.

  1. Disappointed to see him leave Roma actually. I felt he could be a central pillar in a hard working but technically gifted Roma side but they would rather take the gamble on Wijnaldum on a higher wage.

  2. Clearly u didn’t watch veretout play all season smh. Lots of running doing nothing doesn’t equate to playing well. He fell off a cliff the second part of the season.
