Roma have officially announced the arrival of Norwegian winger Ola Solbakken on a free transfer.

The 24-year-old became a household name last season after scoring three goals in two Europa Conference League games against the Giallorossi, attracting the attention of a number of clubs around Europe. Solbakken finished last season with 11 goals and nine assists in 32 games across all competitions, capping off his Bodo/Glimt career well.

As announced by Roma, Solbakken has signed a four and a half year contract with the club, keeping him in the Italian capital until June 2027. He will wear the number 18 shirt for the Giallorossi.

Solbakken expressed his happiness at the move to the Italian capital, underlining his desire to join Roma.

“I pushed so hard to make my wish come true. I really wanted to become a Roma player and finally now it’s a reality.

“Roma impressed me right away, I believe a lot in the project and the club’s plans and I wanted to be part of it. I come here to learn and to improve, but also to show what I can do. The Roma fans are the best I have ever seen and I can’t wait to play for them.”

Tiago Pinto explained why Roma picked up Solbakken on a free transfer, pointing to his quality and age.

“Solbakken has established himself in an emerging market and in a league where the level of competitiveness has risen significantly in recent years.

“His age, his margins of growth and his characteristics match our project. Ola combines important technical qualities with physical and athletic qualities that make him a modern player.”

Solbakken scored 20 goals and provided 24 assists in 91 appearances across all competitions for Bodo/Glimt.
