Although he had been linked with Besiktas, Mert Cetin has instead joined Lecce on loan with option to buy from Hellas Verona.

The Turkey international will have his medical tomorrow and sign the contract.

He first came to Serie A for Roma in 2019, making only six appearances in Serie A.

Verona then took him on loan at first, activating the purchase option and loaning him to Kayserispor.

There were reports Cetin would return to Turkey on a permanent basis for Besiktas.

Instead, newly-promoted Serie A side Lecce have announced his arrival on loan with an option to buy from Verona.

The 25-year-old centre-back is therefore on his third Serie A side since the summer of 2019.
