Lazio have formally announced that coach Maurizio Sarri has signed a new contract to June 2025.

Sportitalia had already reported that the paperwork was completed yesterday evening at the Formello training ground with a salary worth €3.5m per season plus performance-related bonuses.

Now the club has released a statement confirming the coach is tied to the Stadio Olimpico in Rome until June 2025.

He had only taken charge last summer and his previous deal was meant to run to June 2023, so this shows his commitment to a long-term project with the Biancocelesti.

It is above all an agreement based on a shared vision going forward to create a stronger squad.

Sarri took Lazio to fifth place in Serie A during his debut campaign, meaning they qualify for the Europa League group phase as top seeds.

The 63-year-old tactician formerly found success at Napoli, Chelsea and Juventus.

Meanwhile, Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà maintains director Igli Tare has promised to sell the likes of Denis Vavro, Vedat Muriqi and Gonzalo Escalante quickly, thus freeing up precious resources for Lazio to act on the transfer market.

Last season, as the liquidity index was negative until the final days of the summer, Lazio had to leave their transfer activity to the last minute.

  1. Stupid coach with a horrible tactic of 4-3-3. Specially if you dont have strong midfielders.
