Juventus defender Dean Huijsen has officially completed his loan move to Roma for six months, despite originally having a deal with Frosinone.

The centre-back had been all set to play the rest of the season under Eusebio Di Francesco at Frosinone.

However, when Jose Mourinho and Roma made their approach, it was an easy decision for Huijsen to make.

The 18-year-old Dutch defender will get more playing time and be able to also play in the Europa League and Coppa Italia.

“I was immediately impressed by the welcome I received,” Huijsen told the Roma website.

“It was not difficult for me to choose Roma. I’m joining a great club with a great coach and many champions with whom I’ll have the privilege of sharing the changing room. I hope that we can achieve our objectives together.”

He joined the Juventus youth academy from Malaga in the summer of 2021 and it is reported that Roma are paying €650,000 for the loan period.

Just like Frosinone, Roma do not have an option to make the move permanent, desperately needing defensive reinforcements with Chris Smalling and Marash Kumbulla injured.

Evan Ndicka has also left on Africa Cup of Nations duty.

Huijsen made his senior debut for the Bianconeri in the 1-0 Serie A victory away to Milan on October 22.
