Juventus have released a statement providing details on the injuries sustained by Federico Chiesa, Angel Di Maria and Alex Sandro during the 1-0 win over Freiburg in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

Chiesa was brought on in place of Dusan Vlahovic after 67 minutes but went down clutching his right knee 15 minutes later. It has now been confirmed by the club that he has not sustained ligament capsule damage.

Di Maria also appeared to be struggling in the latter stages of the game against Freiburg, with what we now know to be a muscular injury to his left thigh.

Alex Sandro also underwent testing on Friday morning, which has highlighted a low-grade lesion of the hamstring after he was removed during the first half of the Europa League Round of 16 first leg.

All three players were videoed arriving for medical examinations at JMedical this morning, Juve’s club medical facility.

A statement from the club website reads: “Federico Chiesa and Angel Di Maria underwent diagnostic tests this morning at J|Medical. The exams excluded ligament capsule injuries to Chiesa’s right knee and muscle injuries to Di Maria’s left thigh. Their condition therefore will be assessed day by day.”

“Alex Sandro also underwent diagnostic tests, which highlighted a low-grade lesion of the hamstring muscle of the left thigh. His return to competitive action is expected after the international break.”

Gazzetta dello Sport has confirmed that all three are set to miss out on the upcoming Serie A game against Sampdoria on Sunday evening, although the full extent of their lay-offs has not yet been confirmed.
