Walter Mazzarri insists Napoli will at least have a go at winning the Scudetto this season after a fine start to the campaign.

The Partenopei currently lie second in the table, just three points behind League leaders Milan at the winter break.

Interviewed in La Gazzetta dello Sport, Mazzarri said: "It's an extraordinary chance, I admit. But I believe that there are four teams who carry greater respect than Napoli and Lazio.

"Inter, Milan, Juve and Roma have superior qualities, but…

"It's no coincidence if you win five games in a row away from home, two of which came at Marassi against Genoa and Sampdoria.

"Right now, we are on a positive run with four straight victories."

Mazzarri also promised to make a great sacrifice if Napoli did win the Scudetto in May.

"I imagine that you are referring to the cigarettes," he said. "Very well, if we were to finish top, I would stop smoking. But a place in the Champions League would also make it worth giving up.

"For me Naples is the most important place in the world. The people live for football here 24/7. Who coaches in Naples can coach anywhere."
