Napoli are reportedly stepping up negotiations with VfB Stuttgart for Greek international centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos.

The Partenopei are still seeking a replacement for Kim Min-jae, who was sold to Bayern Munich for €50m after just one year at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

They have been linked with numerous different options, but now Sportitalia suggest they are advancing rapidly in talks for Mavropanos, who has an asking price of €25m.

The 25-year-old has 19 senior caps for Greece and has also been linked with Juventus, who instead are now on the verge of securing Facundo Gonzalez from Valencia in that defensive role.

His contract with VfB Stuttgart runs to June 2025 and he spent time at PAS Giannina, Arsenal and Nuremburg before the move to Stuttgart in 2020.

That was initially a two-year loan, followed by a purchase for a total of €4m.

There had already been reports last week of Napoli interest in Mavropanos, but that now seems to be intensifying.
